Car Hire
Hiring a car in Morocco is often a better option than many people realise. Roads, even in remote areas of the country, are of relatively high standard and there petrol station abound. Do however read our advice on driving in Morocco on our general travel information page.
There are a number of national and local providers of car hire in Morocco. Although we are supporters of local commerce in Morocco, in our experience it is simplest to use one of the larger international car hire companies on the basis of service, safety and their networks throughout Morocco.
When you are collecting your hire car, we recommend that you do not rush (easy to do when you have arrived and are keen to get going) but take your time and make sure you do the following:
- Be clear from the agent about the type of petrol the car takes
-
Agree the policy on returning the car with a full tank of petrol or not (this will save any disagreement when you return the car)
-
Walk around the car and note any damage before you accept. If there is, ask your agent to note it down in your hire papers
-
Check that there is a spare tyre with a jack in case you have a puncture
-
Ask your agent to show you the telephone number you should call in an emergency
