Riads Morocco
Riads
Riads are old, traditional Moroccan houses, that represent a huge part of Moroccan history and culture. Once owned by rich, Moroccan families, these houses were for many years run-down or even abandoned, some for centuries.
Today many riads have been transformed into unique guest houses, located in fantastically convenient locations, exuding character, and accommodating many visitors every year, who are usually attracted to riads for their highly traditional and stylish Moroccan decor and exceptional service.
The term ‘riad’ in Arabic means ‘garden’ the reason for this being that riads are built around an internal garden and courtyard. This is perhaps one of the most appealing features of a riad as some of the courtyards are truly beautiful, peaceful and a wonderful place for guests to relax out of the sun. Some riads even have an added swimming or bathing pools into their courtyards to the delight of their guests.
As riads in Morocco are often located in the older part of the cities and are usually small in scale, guests who stay in a riad can experience a truly personal service and an intimate atmosphere at the heart of Moroccan culture. Thousands of tourists travel to Morocco every year to have their very own traditional Moroccan experience by staying in one of the many riads.
