Only five-minutes walk from the historical port, ten–minutes from the sandy beach and fifteen from the heart of the town, Villa Allun allows guests to explore Essaouira with ease, and return to a guesthouse furnished with lavish Moroccan style and comfort.
As Villa Allun was renovated in 2005, the hotel combines modern luxuries as well as keeping traditional Moroccan characteristics such as internal arches and Tadellakt (lime-coloured plaster) in the dressing rooms and bathrooms of all guestrooms. The Bendir Suite on the first floor comprises a queen-size bed, a private lounge and en-suite facilities. The suite is decorated in a Berber style, with silk curtains and hand-embroidered bed-sheets. On the second floor the Gembri Suite also shares these benefits, additionally providing a kitchenette, fire-place (within the lounge) and a view over the ocean. Lastly, the Ghayta Room with double bed is situated on the top floor with direct access to the roof-terrace. As all the bedrooms are placed on separate floors, Villa Allun ensures privacy.
The roof-terrace offers guests a place to enjoy the view over the Atlantic Ocean and to sunbathe. Complete with grill, the terrace provides an ideal place to enjoy a barbeque. Downstairs (on the ground floor) the kitchen and dining room, seating up to eight, allows guests to self-cater if Villa Allun has been rented exclusively. However, again only if Villa Allun has been rented exclusively, Latifa (a staff member) can cook dinner on request. Breakfast is included in the price of the stay for all guests, as is a welcome mint-tea and Moroccan cookies on arrival. The living room, with open fire, is comfortably furnished with leather chairs and welcomes guests. Additionally, Villa Allun’s small fountain located on the patio serves as a useful meeting point.
Villa Allun is extremely well located for exploring Essaouira on-foot. Guests may be attracted to the shops, cafes and markets within the town-centre, or to the water-sports associated with Essaouira. Villa Allun offers guests help with bookings of quad-biking, horse-riding wind-surfing, whilst also providing assistance in restaurant bookings, massage, car-hire and transfer arrangements.

It may be of interest to guests that whilst the rooms can be booked individually, the hotel can also be rented exclusively for groups of friends or family. If guests rent Villa Allun in exclusivity, a housekeeping service is included in the cost of the stay.

Recent guests to Essaouira’s Villa Allun have “highly regarded” the hotel for its “beautifully decorated rooms” and the fact it is “brilliant placed for the beach and town”. Guests have described Villa Allun as a hotel that “exudes style” from top to bottom, whist “retaining Moroccan elements”. We were blown away by Villa Allun. Set more or less on the shore with excellent views, the hotel boasts three floors of beautifully decorated rooms. Right from the downstairs lounge to the roof terrace, this hotel exudes style. Though still retaining Moroccan elements, the place is spacious with large windows which let in a refreshing sea-breeze. We took advantage of the sandy beach whilst staying here, but also enjoyed shopping for fresh food at the souks for our dinner each evening.

Staying here for three nights was a joy. We took the Gembri suite which allowed us to make our own meals and enjoy a comfortable spacious room WITH a sea-view! Staying Essaouira really doesn’t get any better than this.

Villa Allun is a great find. As a family we rented the whole hotel out for two nights, and we were pleased to find that we all took away some special memories from the place. Its brilliantly placed for the beach and the town, so it doesn’t take too long to get your bearings. The hotel was also very useful in helping us arrange a camel-ride nearby, as our youngest wanted a go. For the older traveller, the terrace is a lovely place to enjoy a drink with the sunset and overall we highly regarded Villa Allun and would recommend it without reservation.
