Description
Originally a farm serving the local Kasbah, Les Jardins de Skoura remains nestled in a flourishing palm-grove with gardens of vines, sunflowers, olive, pomegranate, apricot and fig trees, as well as the resident cats, turtles, exotic birds and donkeys.
Les Jardins de Skoura is comprised of five standard rooms and three suites situated on the ground and first floor of the guesthouse. The rooms are stylish but understated, furnished simply and decorated in warm colours, emphasising its deep Moroccan location. Whilst all rooms include en-suite facilities and living rooms, the suites offer more space and the benefit of a private balcony, terrace or patio (some overlooking the palm-grove and Atlas Mountains). As well as a fireplace in Suite Seguia, all rooms are heated in winter and have ceiling fans to keep the temperature cool in the summer.
The guesthouse’s communal areas are welcomingly open such as the outside lounge areas of the “Khaima” tent and the garden terrace. Both refreshments and main meals can be served in the garden, by the pool or on the terraces with an added panoramic view. However, Les Jardins de Skoura’s dining room with open fire and interior lounges also provide an intimate indoor setting for cooler seasons.
Read MoreThe restaurant serves high standard but reasonably priced lunches and dinners (which should be requested in the morning), based on Moroccan and Mediterranean recipes. All meals are homemade and change daily as the fresh ingredients vary from day to day. Breakfast offers Moroccan or continental choices which are included in the price of the stay.
Les Jardins de Skoura’s cooling swimming pool and shaded tent provides a refreshing experience in hotter weather, as do the shaded hammocks under the lush fruit trees and vegetation in the garden. There is a large team of staff who remain on hand throughout the day to bring drinks and other refreshments to the poolside. Bicycles may be hired from the guesthouse for exploring the palm-grove and surrounding rural areas, including the magical-looking ruins of local kasbahs. Trekking may also attract visitors to the area (discovering hidden villages and deep gorges as well as 4x4 excursions) which the hotel can advise on. Nearby horse-riding can be arranged through Jardins de Skoura and additionally transfers to other Moroccan destinations can be organised.
Where is it?

The Editor's Summary
Les Jardins de Skoura has been praised as the "most beautiful place" by guests who have recently visited the guesthouse. Whether it is the "cosy bedrooms, which are also quite spacious" or the enticing "palm groves" surrounding the house, Les Jardins de Skoura provides "time out" for travellers interested in "exploring the countryside", rather than the Morocco’s busy cities. Guests have stated their intentions in returning to the guesthouse and would "recommend it again and again".
We took a few days here for some quality time, and we couldn’t have chosen a better guesthouse to stay in. we took a few short hikes around the area but enjoyed lazing around the pool and gardens the most. Though all the staff don’t speak fluent English, we got by with a bit of French when necessary. The price is very reasonable for the comfort and service you receive. We’d like to come back here next year for some more time out.

Les Jardins de Skoura was the most beautiful place we’ve stayed at in a long time. From its lush gardens and surrounding palm groves to the cosy bedrooms, which are also quite spacious, it was excellent. The staff welcomed us on our arrival (which was a bit later than we had hoped as we took a wrong turn) but they arranged a lovely candlelit dinner for us overlooking the sunset on the terrace. We spent a gorgeous two days exploring the countryside, the mysterious remains on the local Kasbah and taking a day to try some horse-riding that we arranged through the owner. Overall a great place to stay, we’d recommend it again and again.
